Blood Bank to remain open during holidays

The Kenai Peninsula Center of the Blood Bank of Alaska will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Donors can call to schedule an appointment or walk-ins are welcome. The Blood Bank reminds the community that the need for blood rises during the holidays, due to increased traffic and other accidents. Public health sets holiday schedule

The Kenai Public Health Clinic will be closed Thursday and Jan. 1. The immunization clinics scheduled for the Elks Club in Soldotna will be canceled on those days.

The holiday hours for the clinic will be from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Friday. For more information, call 335-3400.

SeaLife center closed for Christmas

The SeaLife Center will be closed Thursday for Christmas. It will open at noon Jan. 1. All other days during the holiday season it will be open its regular winter hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information call, 224-6394.

Cabin Hoppers plan fun run

The Caribou Hills Cabin Hoppers Fun Run will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at The Straight Inn Lodge. The run begins and ends at the lodge. Entry fee is $20. For more information, call Bill or Kathy at 283-7602.

CES is collection point for food bank

Central Emergency Services will provide collection sites at its three stations for holiday food donations for the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week through December. Food items can be dropped off at Mile 84 of the Sterling Highway, Mile 13.5 of Kalifornsky Beach Road or the Soldotna fire station on North Binkley. For more information, call 262-4792.

Habitat for Humanity accepting applications

The Central Peninsula Habitat for Humanity is accepting homeowner applications for its 2004 build. Potential homeowners must meet the following requirements: partner with Habitat by contributing 500 hours of sweat equity with construction labor and-or office work; be currently living in substandard housing; and have the ability to pay back a no-interest mortgage. The deadline for applications is Dec. 31. To receive an application, call the Habitat office at 283-7797 and leave a message with your name and mailing address.
