Last week's $35 billion merger between Sprint and Nextel won't immediately change the way the new telecommunications company will do business in stock-car racing.
NASCAR's top touring division, the Nextel Cup Series, won't change its name or the amount of money it will pour into promotions and the points fund next year.
The new company will be known as Sprint Nextel, and it will be the third-largest telecommunications company in the country with more than 262 million customers..
