Andre Lamontagne recently signed his 2006 contract with the Peninsula Oilers. The Long Beach State University freshman from Santa Maria, Calif., is a 6-foot-4, right-handed pitcher. As a high school senior, in 2005, he compiled a 9-0 won-lost record and was named league MVP and pitcher of the year. Lamontagne was then drafted by the Cincinnati Reds but choose college instead. Lamontagne has not declared a major.

Arizona State University junior Matt Trink has also signed for 2006. Matt has transferred to ASU after two seasons with Yavapai College. In 2005 the 6-foot-1 right-hander was 7-0 with a 2.49 earned run average. Trink, who has twice been drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays, is from Scottsdale, Ariz., and is majoring in interdisciplinary studies.

Oilers Corner is submitted by Mike Baxter, acting general manager of the Peninsula Oilers of the Alaska Baseball League.
