Three men indicted on counterfeit charges in Fairbanks

FAIRBANKS (AP) -- Three Fairbanks area men have been indicted on charges they counterfeited $100 bills and tried to pass them off at two businesses.

The federal grand jury indictment was handed down this month against Kelsey F. Hough, Sean M. Herring and Steven J. Hartman.

According to the indictment, the men are charged with conspiring to counterfeit the money and spend it between Feb. 15 and March 29.

Hough and Herring are charged with making about 40 notes on Feb. 15 and giving a number of them to Hartman.

Hartman is charged with using one at a Williams Express store several days later. Herring is charged with trying to pass one at a North Pole McDonald's shortly after that.
