Kenai visitors center to be closed

The Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

The center's regular winter hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

Hospital to sponsor sitter classes

The Central Peninsula General Hospital is sponsoring Safe Sitter classes for boys and girls, ages 11 through 13, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Jan. 2 and 3. The class costs $50. Students must preregister to guarantee a space in class. Registration forms are available at the hospital's front desk. For more information, call Michelle at 262-8172.

Free cancer screening planned

Central Peninsula Health Centers is offering a free skin cancer screening day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 11 at the Cottonwood health Center in Soldotna. The screenings are in support of melanoma awareness. The only potential cost to patient is outside lab fee. Discounts on outside lab fees are available for those who qualify. Center offers free clothing

The Women's Resource and Crisis Center's Clothes Closet is open to the community from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The Clothes Closet offers clothing and miscellaneous items to the public at no charge. Due to the limited number of staff to sort donations, contributed items are only accepted on Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call 283-9479.
