All invited to Christmas concert
A Christmas concert featuring Grandma’s Hope Notes will be conducted at noon today at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center. Everyone is welcome.
The singers and musicians include Grandma Anita and her 14 grandchildren. They perform all types of music from classical and jazz to country and spiritual. They have played nearly 200 free concerts to community groups during the past nine years.
Alumni hockey game set for tonight
The Skyview Hockey Booster Club annual alumni hockey game will be at 7 p.m. today in the Soldotna Sports Center.
Players from Soldotna, Kenai Central, Skyview and Nikiski high schools are welcome. For more information, call Heidi at 262-2984.
Food bank lists holiday closures
The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank will be closed today and Jan. 2 in observance of the holidays.
The food bank is selling T-shirts printed with the saying, “We Feed People.”
Library plans 3-day closure
The Soldotna Public Library will be closed in observance of Christmas from Saturday through Monday. No items will be due on posted closure dates.

Girl, boy alumni to play basketball
Alumni from all area high school graduating classes dating back to 1995 are invited to play in alumni basketball games Tuesday at Kenai Central High School.
The girls’ game will begin at 5 p.m. and the boys play at 7 p.m.
Teams will be mixed with players from all schools. The first 20 alumni will be allowed to play. Registration is 30 minutes before game time.
Players and spectators will be admitted free of charge.

Library cancels used book sale
The Soldotna Public Library used book sale, which had been slated for Wednesday, has been canceled.
Remembrance celebration set
The Hospice of the Central Peninsula and National Family Caregivers will host a celebration of life from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 30 at the Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna, across from Mykel’s. Community members are invited to light a candle in remembrance of those who have died or for those who are taking care of loved ones with a life-threatening disease. Fellowship, food and live music are some of the planned activities. For more information, call 262-0453.
