Hospice volunteers to sing message of cheer

The Hospice volunteers will sing messages of cheer through today. Sing-A-Grams can be obtained by calling Alice at 262-4505, Sue at 262-9162 or the Hospice of the Central Peninsula at 262-0453. A donation of $25 is requested.

Community dinner offered

The second annual Community Christmas Dinner will be from noon to 4 p.m. Monday at Bubba's Restaurant in Nikiski. The dinner is free and open to the public. For more information, call 776-3444.

Visitors center closes for holiday

The Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center will be closed Monday and Jan. 1 for the holiday season.

Family library to reopen in new year

The Family History Library in Soldotna will be closed until Jan. 3. Please contact Dorothy Helton at 283-2051 if you have any questions.

Advisory board to meet

The 911 Advisory Board meeting will be held at 1:15 p.m. Jan. 3 in the Assembly Room of the Borough Administration Building in Soldotna.

The meeting is open to the public.

School board seeks new member

The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District Board of Education is seeking applications from citizens interested in filling the seat on the board vacated by Mike Chenault's election to the Legislature.

Applicants must be a qualified Alaska voter and have been a resident of the Kenai Peninsula for 180 days preceding the appointment.

The appointment will begin Jan. 22 and continue through the October 2002 election.

Applications must be received by Dec. 29 at 4 p.m. and are available at the school district office at the Borough Building, from the district Web site at or by mail from: Kenai Peninsula Borough School District; 148 N. Binkley; Soldotna, AK 99669. For more information, call 262-5846.

The Greater Soldotna Chamber of Commerce has the 2001 Millennium Calenders. One thousand calenders were printed and 365 prizes, totaling more than $10,600, will be given away.
