WASHINGTON (AP) -- New England and parts of Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois and Indiana appear to be heading for a white Christmas, the National Weather Service reports.
Snow has been falling in Oklahoma and that storm is expected to move across southern Missouri, Illinois and Indiana, Wes Junker, a senior forecaster at the Hydrometeorological Prediction Center in Camp Spring, Md., said Monday.
The storm is likely to re-form off the mid-Atlantic coast, he said, producing a threat of snow from the panhandle of West Virginia and Maryland north across New England -- especially interior New England.
In addition there is a storm system moving into Washington state that could produce snow in the Cascades, but that doesn't seem likely to be widespread, Junker said.
