Youth acting workshop offered

Alaska Theatre of Youth will hold an acting workshop for ages 12 and up from 4 to 8 p.m. today through Monday at the University of Alaska Anchorage Wendy Williamson Auditorium lobby. The course will focus on the fundamentals of acting for the camera, including minimalism, continuity and involving the camera in the total acting experience. At the end of the program each participant will receive a demo tape suitable for submission.

Pratt Museum announces schedule

The Pratt Museum in Homer will be closed Monday through January for yearly maintenance and repairs. The business office will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ring the doorbell for assistance. The museum will reopen at noon Feb. 4.

Poetry contest announced

The Bards of Burbank is offering a $1,000 grand prize in its poetry contest, free to everyone. The deadline for entering is Jan. 16.

KPC magazine accepting submissions

Kenai Peninsula College's literary and art magazine, Driftwood, is soliciting memoirs, essays, stories, poetry, prose poems, novel excerpts and artwork from Alaska authors and artists for the 2003 edition.

To submit a manuscript, include a cover page with the title, author's name, address, e-mail and phone number. All pages must include the title and page numbers and must be typed, double-spaced and stapled. Prose is limited to 2,000 words. Poems are limited to two pages. Include a self-addressed stamped envelope to have the manuscript returned.

To submit artwork or photography, include a title page with the same information as a manuscript submission. Submissions need to be size appropriate for photocopying or scanning. Pencil or charcoal drawings will not be accepted.

Multiple entries are allowed. Manuscripts may be sent to Kenai Peninsula College, Barb Christian, General Editor, 34820 College Road, Soldotna, AK 99669.
