Aunt Leona's Walnut Bread

3 cups flour

1 cup sugar

3 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 1/4 cups milk

3 tablespoons melted butter

1 large egg, beaten

1 cup sliced or chopped

walnuts

Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into a large mixing bowl. Slowly add milk, butter and egg, mixing well. Blend in nuts. Spoon batter into a greased 8 x 4 x 3-inch (1 pound) loaf pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 70 minutes. Let cool in pan 10 minutes, then invert on to wire rack to finish cooling. When cool, wrap tightly.
