ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Three people were hurt on Tuesday when a car struck a moose near Mile 48 of the Parks Highway.

Alaska State Troopers said James Roe, 47, Anchorage was driving south when he hit an adult female moose. Roe sustained injuries to his neck and spine and was taken by ambulance to Valley Hospital in Palmer.

Two passengers in the car received minor head injuries.

Troopers say the moose, which died after it was struck, was donated to a local charity.
