Murkowski's appointment to U.S. Senate a bad choice -- in verse
"Leading with Lisa"
When you dance it's never good
to start out on the wrong foot.
Gets you totally out of synch
one faux pas and bud you stink!
Everyone is watching you
to see what you're gonna' do.
Then you start with nepotism
and it breaks out in a schism!
Father Frank, you better pray
folks will look the other way.
Alaskans are quite adept
to parties, so watch your step!

YRC's work will continue after Wolf leaves for Legislature
Since March of 1997 I have been the executive director of the Youth Restoration Corps (YRC). Watching this program grow to be recognized as one of the most successful restoration programs involving youth in the nation has been rewarding.
But if it were not for the wonderful support and sponsors, the youth involved would not have been able to help make this a success story. Youth Restoration Corps has always been about the youth and will always continue to be about them.
Now as we enter a new year it is time for me to step down as director of YRC, as I was elected to the Alaska State House on Nov. 5.
I'm leaving my position in good hands with the active involvement from the board of directors and a new director; she will assure that the mission of Youth Restoration Corps will not change. For by promoting stewardship to youth within our communities while restoring habitat, we may all enjoy and continue using our resources.
It was in 2002 that one of the YRC youth coined the phrase "Stewardship is cool people doing cool things for a cool purpose."
What else can be said when it comes to working with our next generation of leaders, who by working together help ensure that their children may enjoy the resources as we do?
I ask that you continue to show your support for this worthy program as it continues to grow under the new leadership.
And if you ever wonder what I will be doing in June and July each summer, rest assured I will be working as a group leader with the youth of YRC along a stream bank near you. Come on by and sponsor them to help restore our habitat, so we all may enjoy and benefit from our resources.
