Skate ski clinic begins today

The Skyview High School cross country ski team will hold a Learn to Skate Ski Clinic today and Tuesday at the Skyview wax shack (behind the school by the pool entrance). It will cover waxing and ski care from 10 a.m. to noon, and from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., working on basic to intermediate skate ski technique. The morning wax sessions are $10 per, and the afternoon ski sessions are $20. All four sessions can be purchased for $55 or be purchased individually.

If you are age 10 to adult, bring your waxable skate or combi skis (no fish scales) and your other ski gear. All funds will go to the Skyview team travel fund.

Used book sale planned

Soldotna Public Library will sponsor a used book sale from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday at 235 Binkley St. in Soldotna. Books cost 25 cents, unless otherwise marked. For more information, call 262-4227.

Christ-centered addictions group forming

Reformers Unanimous, a national Christ-centered addictions program is forming a chapter in Kenai. It will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Fridays at the Immanuel Baptist Church on Kalifornsky Beach Road.

Also being offered is "Kids RU" a children's program that teaches children of Reformers Unanimous participants how to avoid addictions. For more information on either program, call 283-9361.

Photographers guild meeting slated

The Kenai Peninsula Photographers Guild will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 4 at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center to view and discuss a photo show by Mary Hayes currently on display.

Members of the group will present images of flowers. The public is welcome to attend and to bring their own photos to share. For more information, call Marianne at 398-0649.

Community service group to meet

Frontier Community Services will meet at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 6 in the board room at 43335 Kalifornsky Beach Road, Suite 36. An election of officers will be held. It is open to the public. For more information, call 262-6331.

The Nikiski Senior Service Area will hold its board of directors meeting at 5 p.m. Jan. 11 at the Nikiski Senior Citizens Center. For more information, call Leigh at 776-7654.

Animal group seeking help

The SPCA of the Kenai Peninsula Inc. is looking for a building to be used for an office and intakes.
