The holiday season wouldn't be complete without a trip to the gym for some roundball nostalgia, and alumni from the central peninsula's high schools are ready to oblige in Saturday's Holiday Hoops Alumni Basketball Classic.
The tournament kicks off at 9 a.m. at Kenai Central High School with a game pitting a squad of Kardinals alumni against a team of Cook Inlet Academy graduates.
Soldotna, Skyview and Nikiski also have alumni teams entered in the men's bracket of the tournament.
Kenai opens play in the women's bracket at 10 a.m. against an alumnae squad from Skyview. Soldotna and Nikiski also have alumnae teams entered in the tournament.
The championship game in the women's bracket is slated for 5 p.m., while the men's championship game tips off at 8 p.m.
Sandwiched in between is the Old Timers game, featuring a squad of Nikiski and Kenai alumni teaming up to take on a squad of Soldotna and Skyview alumni.
Teams from Nikiski remembered the skills drilled into them in high school to win both the men's and women's championships in last year's tournament while the Skyview-Soldotna team took the Old Timers game.
Admission to the all-day event is $10 for a family of up to six, $5 for adults, $3 for children 5 years old through high school, $3 for seniors and free for children under 5.
