Basketball league registration begins

The Boys and Girls Club is taking registration for its seventh- and eighth-grade basketball league. The season runs Jan. 24 through March 17. The deadline to register is Wednesday. The cost is $50 and participants must have a 2005 Boys and Girls Club membership. Scholarships are available. Registration forms are available at www.positiveplaceforkids. Soldotna dog club offers new classes

Peninsula Dog Obedience Group is offering classes at its new facility on Kalifornsky Beach Road next to the Central Area Rural Transit System (CARTS) in the Midway Plaza.

Classes will begin in January and include a levels obedience series. Students will be able to train and move up to different levels at their own pace. There will be new student orientation weekly. The cost is $50 for an eight-week punch card, which is good for four months.

PenDOG also will offer ongoing agility, rally and open obedience, beginning conformation with conformation run-throughs and puppy kindergarten for dogs ages 8 weeks to 4 months.

Fish and Game committee to meet

The Kenai-Soldotna Fish and Game advisory committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 12 at the Kenai River Center. It will hold elections for one sportfishing guide seat, one personal-use and subsistence seat and five at-large seats.

Community members interested in becoming active in fish and game matters and formulating regulations for the area are encouraged to attend. Board of Fish matters for the upcoming upper Cook Inlet meeting also will be discussed. For more information, call Dwight Kramer 283-1054.
