Tickets are expected to go on sale Jan. 9 for the Kenai Peninsula Palin-Parnell inaugural ball in Kenai.
The “black-tie optional” formal affair will be conducted Feb. 3 in the former Carrs grocery store in the Kenai Mall.
The ball will be one of five conducted around the state celebrating the election of Gov. Sarah Palin and Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell, according to Jack Brown, a member of the committee organizing the ball.
The event, slated to start at 7 p.m., will include dinner, music and an address by the governor and by the lieutenant governor, according to Kenai City Manager Rick Koch. Tickets are $25.
Brown said the number of tickets will be limited to 400, and he expects all Kenai Peninsula Borough cities, as well as the borough itself, to participate in the ball.
Other inaugural ball locations will be in Juneau and Fairbanks, and either Anchorage or the Matanuska-Susitna Valley Borough, and possibly Nome, Brown said.
Sponsors for the Kenai ball also are being sought and may contact Bill Popp at the Kenai Peninsula Borough, Koch at Kenai City Hall or Debbie Brown at 262-4551 for more information.
