Bellringers to perform

The Kenai Senior Citizens Center bellringers will perform at 11 a.m. today at the Kenai Community Library.

Community New Year’s party slated

There will be a community New Year’s party sponsored by area churches from 7 to 11 p.m. Sunday at the Tustumena Elementary School in Kasilof.

Games and drinks will be provided. Participants are asked to bring a snack. For more information, call 262-7512.

CPGH open house set

Central Peninsula General Hospital will host an open house Wednesday. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. in the lower level Denali Conference Center with the Heartbeat of Alaska Drummers, an invocation and speakers, including hospital CEO Ryan Smith and borough Mayor John Williams.

Tours, music and refreshments begin at 5 p.m. There is limited space in the conference center, so those who wish to listen to the invocation, drummers and speakers are asked to arrive early.

Kids’ winter reading program continues

Triumvirate Bookstore in the Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna is holding a kids Winter Frequent Reading Program.

When kids sign up at the bookstore, they can pick out one free book, a reading calendar and reading program rules. Kids are encouraged to read a book, bring their reading calendar to the bookstore, get it punched and pick up another free book.

Bookstore hours are noon to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Fundraisers for cancer victim continue

The following fundraisers are being held for Ericka Reynolds, a sixth-grader at Kenai Middle School who was diagnosed with leukemia:

· An account has been set up at Wells Fargo Bank called the Ericka Reynolds Fund. The account number is 5229072326.

· Kenai Middle School is selling “Ericka” bracelets to represent her fight against cancer. The cost is $1 and proceeds will go toward her fund. For more information, call 283-4896.

Alzheimer's information available

The Kenai Senior Citizens Center has an Alzheimer's resource center.

Material is available for leading free of charge to families and caregivers of Alzheimer's and dementia patients.

Chamber to host awards ceremony

The Kenai Chamber of Commerce will host its annual awards ceremony at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 13 at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska. Awards for youth service, volunteer, outstanding business, outstand organization, community service, the Pioneer, Log Cabin and President's awards will be given.
