Bob A. Johnston

Former Kenai Peninsula resident Bob A. Johnston died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007 at San Joaquin Hospital in Bakersfield, Calif., after losing his battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He was 67 years old.

A memorial service will be held by the family on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007 at Mish Funeral Home in Bakersfield.

Mr. Johnston was born on July 7, 1940 in Colorado Springs, Colo. Before moving back to Bakersfield, he resided for many years in North Kenai. He spent his happiest moments at his beloved cabin with the love of his life, Lavanna. He was very dedicated to his family and wanted nothing more than to provide for them. He was always the first to step up when it came to lending out his heart or giving a helping hand. We all are blessed to have known him and he will be truly missed, his family said.

Mr. Johnston worked as a International Representative of P.A.C.E. union for over 30 years and remained loyal to his union brothers to the very end.

Bob is survived by his wife of 11 years, Lavanna Johnston; daughters Bridget Mcdonald and Belinda Dixon of Bakersfield, and Teresa Saner of Kenai; sons Bryan Johnston of Bakersfield and Chad Davis of Tennessee; and grandchildren James, Jacqueline, Jordan and Sam of Bakersfield, and Tim and Trent of Kenai.

Flowers may be sent to Mish Funeral Home, 120 Minner Ave., Bakersfield, CA 93308.
