REDDING, Calif. (AP) -- Shasta County Sheriff's deputies have identified a pair of slaying victims killed Christmas Eve and found near Interstate 5.
Shasta County Deputy Coroner Mike Booth identified the two as Hakeem Salim Bryant, 25, of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Christopher Lamar Martin, 27, of Olympia, Wash.
Shasta County Sheriff's spokesman, Sgt. Jim Mize said police in Centralia, Wash., found a torched car on Christmas morning believed involved in the shootings. Mize said Shasta County investigators who traveled to Washington, found ''items of interest'' in and around the car.
He said investigators are looking into leads in Seattle, Olympia and Tacoma, but haven't established a motive for the shootings.
Motorists found the bodies on Christmas Eve about one-half mile from each other near the Castella offramp of I-5.
