Challenger Center plans holiday activities

The Challenger Learning Center of Alaska will hold three activities at the center over the holiday season:

Houston We Have a Problem, for students in the fourth through sixth grades, will be from 1 to 3 p.m. today and from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday. The cost is $20 per student. There is a minimum of 12 students per session.

Mission Impossible is for fifth- through eighth-grade students and will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Students will fly two missions. It helps to build teamwork and communication skills. The cost is $65 per student, with a minimum of 14 students to fly per mission. For more information or to register, call the center at 283-2000.

Pratt Museum to close for maintenance

The Pratt Museum will be closed (except for Wiz Kids) starting Thursday through Feb. 2 for yearly maintenance and repairs. The business office will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Ring the door bell for assistance. The museum will reopen at noon Feb. 3. For more information, call (907) 235-8635.

Swim club seeks members

A new swim club, South Central Aquatics, will hold registration for members at 3 p.m. Jan. 5 in front of the Skyview High School pool entrance. Advance registration is recommended. For more information, call Dennis Reger at 262-1220 or Petra Clinton at 262-5563.

Grant writing workshop set

Healthy Communities-Healthy People is sponsoring a grant writing workshop from noon to 2 p.m. Jan. 15 and Jan. 22 at Bridges at 145 Kasilof St. Stan Steadman will be the guest speaker. The cost is $50. Advance payment is required. For more information or to register, call 260-3800.

Kennel club offering dog classes

The Kenai Kennel Club is offering classes at its facility in the former Inlet Card and Craft store in the C Plaza in Kenai. Classes include beginning agility, puppy kindergarten, basic, intermediate and advance obedience, rally obedience and conformation handling.
