Keller earns ROTC scholarship

Soldotna resident William J. Keller II recently was awarded a three-year Army ROTC college scholarship.

Recipients are selected on the basis of comprehensive tests, high school scholastic achievement, school officials' evaluations and extracurricular activities.

The majority of ROTC scholarships cover full college and university tuition, provide textbook allowance and pay most laboratory or incidental fees. In addition, a $250 tax-free monthly stipend is paid to recipients during the academic year.

Upon graduation and completion of the program, Keller will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army.

He currently is pursuing a degree in history at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington.

Keller is the son of Carol L. and William J. Keller. He is a 2002 graduate of Soldotna High School.
