Skyview, Ninilchik fall in Sitka

High school basketball teams from Skyview and Ninilchik had a tough opening day at the Holland America/Sitka CHARR of Alaska Holiday Shootout Tuesday in Sitka.

In the first day of competition, North Pole defeated the Skyview boys 85-55. Skyview was led by Greg Bosick’s 24 points.

The Kendrick, Idaho, girls defeated Skyview 47-27. Anna Blake scored 12 points for the Panthers.

Austin Vanderford scored 16 points to lead the Ninilchik boys, who dropped a 52-45 decision to host Sitka. The Sitka girls defeated Ninilchik 53-35, with Kendra Moerlein scoring 14 to lead the Wolverines.

The tournament concludes today.
