Homer Electric Association would like to recognize the exceptional response by both the Nikiski Fire Department and the Alaska State Troopers following a recent winter storm that created power outages in the Nikiski area.
In many neighborhoods, strong winds blew trees into the power line, leaving electric wire down on the ground and lying across roadways. HEA crews worked around the clock to make repairs and get power back on as soon as possible, but the sheer number of outages made it impossible to respond immediately to each situation. In many instances, Nikiski Fire Department firefighters and Alaska State Troopers were first on the scene. They were able to secure the area, provide information to our dispatch center, and keep the area safe until HEA crews arrived to make the repairs.
Safety is the number one priority at HEA and it was obvious during this latest storm that our priority is shared by the Nikiski Fire Department and the Alaska State Troopers. On behalf of everyone at HEA, a very heartfelt, "Thank You"! We are fortunate to have such dedicated public safety employees working for us here on the Kenai Peninsula.
