Former Kenai resident Carol Ann Myles died of cancer Dec. 13, 2010, at Providence Alaska Medical Center, in Anchorage. She was 56.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Jan. 18, 2011, at New Grace Christian Church, 10821 Totem Road, Anchorage.
Mrs. Myles was born April 5, 1954, to Jesse and Frances Louise (McClure) Bourland, in Oxnard, Calif., and grew up in Candian, Okla.
She married Bob Myles in 1973. Together they moved to Glennallen in 1981, where she worked at Tazlina Trading Post.
The couple began a family with their first child in 1984 and moved to Anchorage in 1985. Mrs. Myles was a stay at home mom and in 1991 they had their second child.
Mrs. Myles was active in the PTA, both at the school and state level, and she worked at the State of Alaska PTA as office manager for several years. She then worked with the Anchorage Bucs Baseball Club as their office manager and remained on the board of directors even after moving to Kenai in 2005.
Mrs. Myles was also a life time member of the VFW Post 1685 Ladies Auxiliary.
Her family said: "She was married to Bob Myles for 37 years, but her children and grandchildren were the loves of her life!"
She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Bourland, and grandmother, Nellie Hess.
Mrs. Myles is survived by her husband, Bob, of Kenai; mother, Louise Bourland, of Canadian, Okla; her daughter, Rachel Abernathy; son, Bobby Myles; grandchildren Blake, Sarah and Samantha Leask, of Anchorage; sister, Trish Johnston, of North Pole; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the American Cancer Society in Carol's name.
