Kasilof resident Evelyn "Cissie" Clancy Cooper died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009 at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna. She was 84.
Ms. Cooper's family will celebrate her life in spring of 2010 in Myrtle Beach, S.C., where her ashes will rest with her mother, brother and sister.
Ms. Cooper was born on July 27, 1925 to Sidney and Corrine Clancy in Thomasville, Ga. She graduated from Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, N.C., and the University of South Carolina. She taught special education at Midland Center and Hall Institute in Columbia, S.C. She also taught at New Piti Elementary School on Guam and James-Santee Elementary School in McClellanville, S.C.
Ms. Cooper was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Butler Clancy; sister, Mary Clancy; and grandson, Stephen Sharpe.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Bill Cooper and his wife, Kacey, of Kasilof, Regena Cooper of Beaufort, S.C., and Priscilla Sharpe of West Columbia, S.C.; grandchildren Will Cooper of Salt Lake City, Dr. Drew cooper of Salt Lake City, Stacey Howell of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Adam Cooper of Salt Lake City, Paris Cooper of Kasilof, and Kade Cooper of Kasilof.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a local animal shelter.
