About Me

Dr. Stringham has been researching Alaska's wildlife since 1970, beginning with studies on Kenai Peninsula moose. He also studied other ungulates in Canada (white tailed deer) and Austria (European elk, European mountain goats, and roe deer). Those studies focused on optimizing age-sex ratios to maximize health and productivity of ungulate populations -- inspiring of similar studies on moose and Dall sheep in Alaska. He has researched bear ecology and behavior since 1969, and is the author of several books on wildlife, and is Director of the Bear Viewing Association, as well as a former member of the Kenai-Soldotna Fish & Game Advisory Committee.
