Tuesday’s Peninsula Clarion article “Former school nurse pleads guilty to tampering” includes a quote by the defense attorney (“I would guess that 99.9 percent of all school district nurses in the state have done this”) that suggests that our school nurses are lackadaisical and breaking the law with their record keeping. We strongly disagree with this suggestion and know that our school nurses are offended to be characterized in this way.
Our KPBSD nurses treat the record keeping component of their jobs seriously and well understand the possible consequence of not doing so. It is regrettable that reflection about one school nurse leads to a demeaning generalization such as this.
