Competition benefits food bank

The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank extends a warm thank you to the Public Defender’s Office and to the Office of the District Attorney for their participation in an inter-office food drive competition during November and December. The Defense Attorney’s Office raised 72 pounds of food and $1,495, while the Office of the District Attorney raised 309 pounds of food along with $393. Food and funds together, the drive donated the equivalent of 9,821 pounds of food for combatting hunger on the Kenai Peninsula. Also a special thanks goes to Trial Lawyer Eric Derleth for nurturing the spirit of competition between the two offices.

Many will benefit from the fruits of this drive. One of our clients shares, “Our food bank is important to us because it helps feed our family in the winter when we can’t find jobs.”

Anyone with questions about the operations and services of the Food Bank or about volunteering should call 262-3111, or even better, come visit us at 33955 Community College Dr. in Soldotna. We feed people because no one deserves to be hungry!
