Letter: Boating safety class could be a life-saver

Boating safety class could be a life-saver

On November 12, I attended a free Boating Safety class taught by Joseph McCullough. He is the Training and Education Coordinator with the State of Alaska Department of Natural Resources. This was a great class for refreshing your boating skills and for new people just starting out in boating.

I was disappointed that there were only four of us in the class. Two of us were refreshing just to stay aware of any changes and two were new to boating and wanted to be safe operators. My question is why weren’t there more people there? Boating safety is critical in any state and even more so in Alaska.

If you get the chance to attend one of Joe’s classes or any other boating safety class please attend it could save yours, MINE or someone else life.
