On September 15, 2016, a group of approximately 60 students from around the school district met for a borough wide Student Council conference. I would to thank Mr. Joe Arness, Mayor Mike Navarre, Senator Peter Micciche, Ms. Pegge Erkeneff, and Mr. Ryan Kapp for speaking to the students about leadership and student voice in the community. I’d also like to thank Soldotna High School’s Principal, Mr. Tony Graham, Student Council Advisor and teacher, Mr. Nathan Erfurth as well as the rest of the Soldotna High School staff for being such a gracious host. Thanks also to Pizza Boys for the delicious pizza. It was an excellent conference. I was very impressed with the discussions that all of the students participated and engaged in. The productive conversations helped us shape plans for a positive future for the Kenai Peninsula. I look forward to continuing work with students around the district to help move the Kenai forward.
