I recently spent nine days in CPH for surgeries and related x-rays for a severely damaged tibia caused by a fall from some scaffolding. Prior to being discharged and forwarded to Heritage Place for 10 days of recovery and physical therapy, I experienced the ultimate in specialized hospital care. Along with around the clock monitoring of various IV feeds and my comfort, came extraordinary care and compassion — at both facilities.
Working in 12 hour shifts, the RNs and CNAs were there within a minute or two of my call button request. Often working in pairs to assist me in my one-leg hobbling to the toilet, I was always treated with careful lifting maneuvers and smiles. Many times I saw them hide their own weariness; replaced with professional courtesies … especially at the end of their shifts … the smiles were genuine.
With an apology for not recalling all their names, a few do stick out in my memory. They are: Alexis, Samantha, Genele, Clifton & Amanda; C.P.H, and Karen, Bleu, Jen & Soundra; H.P.
