I would like to thank Emma Mullet for putting together Emma’s 2nd run, which took place on Saturday in Kenai. Emma provided our community with not only a wonderful Saturday activity, but also a timely reminder: children can and should care about things other than their own. Emma is living proof of that concept, as she is a sixth-grade student who must have spent many hours poring over course maps and marketing tools in order to organize a very successful 5K run. Emma managed to raise almost $1,500 which will go towards sick children at St. Jude Hospital. In a day and age when children are more concerned about what’s for breakfast and what will they get for Christmas, Emma’s run was a refreshing reminder that I need to ask my children, not “what do you want to get for Christmas, but what do you want to donate.” Thank you, Emma!
