Several Alaska nonprofit organizations are participating in a global day of giving celebrated by the hashtag #GivingTuesday.
The movement takes place on Dec. 1 and creates a moment dedicated to giving; organizations in Alaska will use the hashtag #GivingTuesdayAK, according to a media release.
Participating organizations include the Alaska Community Foundation, Arctic Barnabas Ministries, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Alaska and the Girl Scouts of Alaska and the Stone Soup Group.
More than 40 Alaskan nonprofits are registered as part of the movement, according to the release. The movement aims to inspire Alaskans to improve their communities and give to charities and causes they care about, according to the release. Each individual act of giving is then amplified and encouraged by the movement, according to the release.
