There will be a Spring Carnival open to the public Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. at Soldotna United Methodist Church, 158 S. Binkley Street, Soldotna. Come for some fun playing games, challenging your skills and enjoying some tasty snacks.

“Taking Out the Trash” will be the sermon topic of retired Presbyterian minister Mary Adams at the Kenai United Methodist Church on Sunday. The service starts at 11:30 a.m. The text of the morning is Philippians chapter three verses 4b through 14. Rev. Adams is a volunteer chaplain at the Central Peninsula Hospital. The United Methodist Church is located across from Wells Fargo Bank in Kenai. All are welcome to attend.

A Place at the Table, a new ministry at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 222 West Redoubt Avenue, Soldotna, will be providing a hot meal and fellowship in Fireweed Hall on Easter Sunday, from 4-6 p.m. This will be offered on the fourth Sunday of every month. Availability of having your blood pressure taken at this time.

During Holy Week, the congregation of the Kenai United Methodist Church, located across from Wells Fargo Bank, invites the public to be a part of the following services:

March 20 , 11:30 a.m., Palm Sunday

March 24, 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Church is open for prayer

March 25, 7 p.m., Good Friday service at North Star United Methodist Church

March 27, 9:30 a.m. Early Easter Service, Easter Breakfast and egg hunt; 11:30 a.m., Easter Worship Service

Star of the North Lutheran Church at 216 North Forest Drive in Kenai will be holding services at 7 p.m. each Wednesday during Lent. The theme is “Encounters with Christ.” All services will be preceded by a meal at 6:15 p.m.

Soldotna Church of God-Destiny Kidz ministry is planning a Spring Break Vacation Bible School, noon-2 p.m. March 14-18. Journey with Joseph! Travel back to ancient Egypt and discover how God led Joseph on an amazing journey. Make bricks, write hieroglyphics, dress like an ancient Egyptian, visit with Joseph and more! The Soldotna Food Pantry is open every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for residents in the community who are experiencing food shortages. The Food Pantry is located at the Soldotna United Methodist Church at 158 South Binkley Street, and all are welcome. Non-perishable food items or monetary donations may be dropped off at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. or on Sunday from 9 a.m. until noon. First Baptist Church Soldotna, located at 159 S. Binkley Street, is re-opening its Clothes 4 U program. It is open on the second and fourth Saturday of each month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. All clothing and shoes are free to the public.

The Kenai United Methodist Church provides a food pantry for those in need every Monday from noon to 3 p.m. The Methodist Church is located on the Kenai Spur Highway next to the Boys and Girls Club. The entrance to the Food Pantry is through the side door. The Pantry closes for holidays. For more information contact the church office at 907-283-7868.

Clothes Quarters at Our Lady of the Angels Church is open every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the first Saturday of every month from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call 907-283-4555.
