Former pastor visits Kenai United Methodist Church
The congregation of the Kenai United Methodist Church will welcome former pastor Bob Simmons to the pulpit on Sunday. Bob was the church’s minister from 1991-1995. He will speak on Salvation. The church is located across from Wells Fargo Bank in Kenai. The morning worship service begins at 11:30 a.m. All are welcome to attend.

— Evening of Lectio Divina: Lectio Divina is one of the great treasures of Christian Tradition of Prayer. It means Divine Reading and is a reflective reading of Scriptures. Kess Frey from Anchorage will be leading an evening of study and practice of Lectio Divina on Sept. 18 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at O’Neill Hall, 222 West Redoubt Avenue, Soldotna. — Introduction to Centering Prayer Workshop: Centering Prayer is a simple method of a daily prayer practice designed to facilitate the development of Contemplative prayer by preparing our faculties to receive this gift. Kenai New Life to simulcast Beth Moore presentation
Lifeway Christian Resources is slated to simulcast Bible teacher and author Beth Moore live on Sept. 12, 9:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. This year’s theme Audacious is a deep dive into the message that has compelled Beth Moore to serve women around the globe. Dove award-winning musical artist Travis Cottrell is slated to lead worship for the event. Kenai New Life Assembly is serving as a host location for the Kenai Peninsula. Tickets are now available at the church office or at the door: women $15, daughters 6-12th grade 1/2 price. Peninsula Grace plans Harvest Carnival
Peninsula Grace Church’s annual Kid’s Harvest Carnival will be Oct. 30 from 6:30-8 p.m. The event is free to attend and will feature hotdogs, games, candy, puppet show, and the carnival’s first ever chili cook-off! Soldotna Food Pantry
The Soldotna Food Pantry is open every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for residents in the community who are experiencing food shortages. The Food Pantry is located at the Soldotna United Methodist Church at 158 South Binkley Street, and all are welcome. Non-perishable food items or monetary donations may be dropped off at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. or on Sunday from 9 a.m. until noon. United Methodist Church provides food pantry
The Kenai United Methodist Church provides a food pantry for those in need every Monday from noon to 3 p.m. The Methodist Church is located on the Kenai Spur Highway next to the Boys and Girls Club. The entrance to the Food Pantry is through the side door. The Pantry closes for holidays.

Clothes 4 U at First Baptist Church
First Baptist Church Soldotna, located at 159 S. Binkley Street, is re-opening its Clothes 4 U program. It is open on the second and fourth Saturday of each month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. All clothing and shoes are free to the public.
Clothes Quarters open weekly
Clothes Quarters at Our Lady of the Angels Church is open every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the first Saturday of every month from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call 907-283-4555.
