Classical guitar and flute set for Saturday concert

The “evening of mastery and elegance” is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 1.

The Performing Arts Society will on Saturday host a performance by flutist Tomoka Raften and classical guitarist Armin Abdihodžic at the Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna. The “evening of mastery and elegance” is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 1.

Both Raften and Abdihodžic have roots on the Kenai Peninsula, and event information provided by the society says they’ll be reuniting to perform together for the first time in five years. The two have previously performed both together and separately in local concerts and both have been involved in local music education. Abdihodžic currently serves as an associate professor of guitar at the University of Alaska Anchorage.

According to event information from the society, the two will play a series of works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Toru Takemitsu, Maurice Ravel, Gabriel Fauré and Jacques Ibert.
