Safari Club awards six scholarships
Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula Chapter of Safari Club International wishes to recognize the accomplished young people who earned $1,000 college scholarships this year.
Madeleine Rea graduated from Seward High School and is attending Ohio Wesleyan University, majoring in Zoology and Animal Sciences.
Haley Miller of Soldotna is attending UAA, majoring in Biology and Natural Sciences.
Kilina Klaich of Nikolaevsk is a Sophomore at Kachemak Bay Campus of KPC, majoring in nursing.
Sarah Newberry of Soldotna is a Sophomore at UAF majoring in Biology and Wildlife.
Ashley von Borstel of Seward is a Junior at UAF majoring in Biology and Business.
Kelsey Tachick of Soldotna is a Junior at Olivet University majoring in Zoology.
The $4,000 scholarships are awarded, $1,000 per year, as long as the student remains eligible. SCI is a non-profit organization dedicated to wildlife conservation, education, humanitarian efforts, and protecting our hunting heritage. Congratulations to these outstanding students.

Events, wedding, engagement and birth submissions may not be older than six months. Wedding anniversary announcements are printed in five-year increments beginning with the 20th.
The Community page is a way to highlight activities and events that happen with a photo. If your group or organization has a photo of an event to share, submit the photo and the following information for print: Who took the photo, who’s in it, when and where it was taken, a brief description of what’s happening, and a name and phone number in case we have questions.
