David and Sheena Ashkenasy announce the birth of their son, Landon Scott Ashkenasy at 8:17 a.m. on Jan. 29, 2015. He weighed 8 pounds, 0.04 ounces and measured 21 inches. His grandparents are Cynthia Zimmerman Anderson, Robert Anderson, Marcus Ashkenasy, and Beth Palmer. His great-grandparents are Jack and Judy Leonard, Carla and Irv Ashkenasy, and Patricia Palmer.

U.S. Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Daxter G. Thompson graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is a 2010 graduate of Kenai Central High School.
