Forever Dance Alaska will celebrate 10 years of its annual company showcase this weekend with “Down Memory Lane,” on March 28 and 29.
Darcy Swanson, Forever Dance Alaska owner and director, said during a Wednesday rehearsal that the show will look back on and celebrate “some of the most iconic dances from all of the shows that we’ve done in the past.” That includes pieces from the 2018 rock show, the Broadway show, and their first show returning to the stage after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. It all leads to a performance with dancers from past and present together, “full circle moments for us and our dancers and their families.”
The company showcase features the competitive level dancers at the company, the “best production” that Forever Dance puts on each year. The anniversary show will feature returning appearances from alumni and messages from former coaches.
Seeing those adults still dancing was special for some of the youngsters among the company, Swanson said.
“My motto has always been dance is for everyone, dance is forever,” she said. “Dance is such a blessing to these kids, and its something I hope they can continue throughout their whole life.”
Those young performers represent the future of Forever Dance Alaska, Swanson said.
Forever Dance Alaska’s “Down Memory Lane” will run Friday, March 28, and Saturday, March 29, in the auditorium at Kenai Central High School. There will be a 6 p.m. performance on both days, with an additional 12:30 p.m. showing on Saturday.
Tickets can be purchased for $18 at foreverdancealaska.com or at the door.
