Cardboard is sturdy and compostable, making it a natural solution for a weed problem. Place flat pieces of cardboard on your weed-prone area, watering thoroughly to help them stay put. Then either weight down the cardboard with rocks or chunks of wood or add soil or mulch on top to camouflage the cardboard. Using this method in the fall, the space will be ready to plant in the spring.
