Summer is officially in full swing and Alaskan recreational opportunities are everywhere you look. With increased access to beaches, rivers, parks and wilderness areas often comes increased impact. During this time of year 4-H youth are working hard to raise awareness about responsible use of public lands and recreational areas, and encourage you to play a role in helping keep these important and scenic areas free of trash and litter. For those dip-netting on the Kenai please remember to Respect Our Community and dispose of your fish and camping waste appropriately so we can all enjoy the beach together. For those using our many campground, please clean-up your camp sites.
In August 4-H clubs across the peninsula will be cleaning litter from our public highways, beaches and lands. You can show your support by sponsoring a club in your community or by signing up to help with trash pick-up. Let’s all work together to have a great summer and keep the Peninsula beautiful and litter free!
Please call 262-5824 to learn more about how you and your family can join with 4-H in our ongoing conservation projects and goals.
