Brandy Martinez of Kenai graduated from the University of Jamestown, in Jamestown, N.D., during the school’s 108th Commencement ceremony on May 10 at the Jamestown Civic Center. Martinez received a degree in Nursing.

Paige Sanders of Nikiski is set to graduate cum laude from Hiram College in Ohio with a B.S. in neuro-science. Sanders has been inducted into the J.J. Turner Society, honoring outstanding achievement in life science. She plans to continue her education in the medical field.

The Kenai Borough Employees Association has announced this year’s scholarship recipients. Recipients will receive $500 to further their educations. Scholarships are funded by KBEA membership.

Scholarship winners are:

Ashley von Borstel of Seward High School, who plans to attend the University of Alaska Fairbanks and major in biology;

Justice English of Kenai Central High School, who will attend Azusa Pacific University in California to study exercise science; and

Brittany Hollers of Skyview High School, who will attend Kenai Peninsula College and is interested in a career in dental hygiene.

If your group or organization has a photo of an event to share, submit the photo and the following information for print: Who took the photo, who’s in it, when and where it was taken, a brief description of what’s happening, and a name and phone number in case we have questions.
