Braden Perkins, from Soldotna, graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, during its spring commencement ceremony on May 25. Perkins graduated with a major in Engineering Physics.
Ashley von Borstel has been awarded a $4,000 scholarship, which is granted in $1,000 annual increments by Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula Chapter of SCI. Her scholarship essay topic was “Hunting’s role in wildlife conservation.” She has been active in volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, track, yearbook, honor choir, National Honor Society, and many more. Ashley is a 2014 graduate of Seward High School. She is a UA Scholar and plans to major in Biology and Business at UAF.
Kelsey Tachick was awarded SCI’s second $4,000 scholarship this year. She has been active in volleyball, National honor Society, Science fairs, and innumerable volunteer activities. Kelsey graduated from Cook Inlet Academy in 2014 with high honors and plans to attend Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois to major in Zoology. Her parents are Robert and Trina Tachick of Soldotna.
