CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Chattanooga’s McKamey Animal Center offers a different kind of Black Friday special — name-your-price pet adoptions.
Jamie McAloon is executive director of the shelter. She told WDEF-TV it was exciting to see people waiting in line to adopt on Friday.
McAloon said people don’t realize shelters get a lot of animals during the holiday and adoptions don’t necessarily increase. She is hoping to change that.
Madicyn Jenkins’ father brought her from Summerville, Georgia, to get a dog — the pet she has wanted for seven years.
Sixty-nine other animals were adopted as well, according to McKamey’s Facebook page.
McAloon says the shelter still wants to make sure that the animals have good homes. Counselors were on hand to make sure pets that were a good fit.
