Cold and Flu Season
By Hedy Huss, Soldotna
It’s the cold and flu season.
The calendar says your body goes treason.
When you get sick, it can be dicey.
A virtual Kleenex and cough syrup conspiracy.
Sinuses drain, with a vengeance drain.
Sneezing feels like you blow out your brain.
The stomach works overtime to hold it down.
Uh-oh! Another round.
(“Clean up on aisle 9”)
Eyes red more this season?
All of this stands to reason.
Achy, sleepy. Five days.
It’s all blurred in a haze.
Flu and cold season lasts long enough.
Next time, be tough!
Get a shot of vaccine.
Take it, like a Marine.
Nothing to it.
Just do it!
