Community Canine
By Hedy Huss, Soldotna
Recently, a “Gentleman Quarterly”
fella moved into the cabin on the property.
Oh, what a “hottie.”
Bonus! Extra credit — Jackson —
his handsome hound. Our
pet wild rabbits left in spring.
Jackson is now here “chatting!”
A chocolate Lab and rottweiler blend,
Not a shred of mean. Just
a sweat pea end to end.
People parents would envy
his behavior at two.
Of these rare ones, there are few.
Jackson gladly sits or lays down when asked.
In the swirl of attention he basks.
Like a poodle, Jackson would like a lap.
But size rules out that nap.
Downright dainty, he places
a ball he did catch.
Always ready, “let’s fetch.”
No holding or pulling on the toy.
Told you, he’s a very good boy.
He visits us assisted living residents every day.
We like it that way.
He really takes the stage.
May our community canine,
along with us, age.
