It’s Happening Again
By Dee Rusin, Kenai
It’s happening again
It does it every year
The change is in the air
That is very clear
Silly squirrels scrambling
Scattering everywhere
Secretly storing things
That later they will share
If they remember where
Caribou run in circles
Crying as they go
Chased by eager hunters
Before the very first snow
Flying South our feathered friends
Form a perfect vee
Flocking together as a group
As far as the eye can see
Brother bear brushes through bushes
On a berry hunt
Filling his tummy
Before his winter stunt
Of sleeping many days to come
In the winter months
Mother moose munches
All winter long
Meandering here and there
Her winter change us minimal
Hardly having a care
Colorful leaves start to fall
While evergreens still stand tall
Fall’s in the air that’s very clear
Does that mean that winter’s near
Oh dear
