Events and Exhibitions
■ “A Tale of Four Cities,” and exhibition of work by Nicole Lopez, is on display in the Gary Freeburg Gallery at Kenai Peninsula College through Dec. 10. A closing reception is scheduled for 4:30-6 p.m. Dec. 10.
■ The Redoubt Flute Studio Winter Concert 2015 is Sunday, Dec. 13 at 2:30 p.m. at Soldotna Christ Lutheran Church (admission is free). The program includes flute solos/duets and chamber music ensembles, works by Tchaikovsky, Bizet, Telemann, etc. and holiday music.
■ The Kenai Peninsula Orchestra presents “An Evening of Christmas,” Dec. 18, at 7:00 p.m. in the KCHS auditorium. This is a fun-filled evening full of holiday songs and audience sing-alongs. Performing groups include the Redoubt Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Tammy Vollom-Matturro, the Peninsula Singers under the direction of Simon Nissen, The Central Peninsula Community Orchestra under the direction of Mellisa Nill, and the Peninsula Jazz Band. Tickets are available at the door, $15 general admission, all youth 18 and under are free.
■ “This Hope” will be performing at Soldotna Bible Chapel on Dec. 14, at 7:00 p.m.
■ The Soldotna Bible Chapel will be having a Christmas concert on Dec. 20 at 6:00 p.m. The concert will feature the adult choir, as well as, hand bells, and a children’s choir.
■ The Soldotna Church of God, at the corner of Redoubt and Binkley, hosts a heartwarming play about the spirit of giving Dec. 20 at 6 p.m. Written and directed by one of Soldotna’s own, come and see if Christmas Carol gets “A Home for Christmas.”
■ The Homer-based Whirling Rainbow Foundation and Grandmother Drum International Peace Project will have a fundraising CD release concert at the Sterling Community Center from 4-7 p.m. Dec. 20 for its newest CD, “Holy Ground.” This CD was recorded in 8 countries and 15 locations and unites many cultures through sacred music. ■ The Klimpke Christmas light display is back up to view through Jan. 1, 2016. Viewing times are 5:00-10:30 p.m. Santa will be making his appearances Dec. 20-23 from 6-8 p.m. You will be able to meet Comet and Crash the reindeer on the Dec. 23 from 6-8. ■ Peninsula Art Guild presents “Take Me Deeper,” a show about worship featuring artists Sharon Heselius, Rene Gervais, Stephanie Alward, Joy Alexander, Rick Cupp, Moira Ireland, Lori Sisson, Dot Hagen-May, and Cyndye Brower. This show is worship-based art in multiple mediums. Also on display is the annual KFAC Student Show containing works from Kenai Peninsula Borough students in a wide variety of mediums. ■ An all acoustic jam takes place every Thursday. The jam is at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna on the first Thursday of the month, and at the Kenai Senior Center during the rest of the month. Jam starts at 6:30 p.m.
