When Growing Old
Dolores Rusin
Thinking big thoughts during the night
Sometimes sleep eludes
Thoughts run rampant through my brain
Like worry at Sunrise what should I do
The question comes do you have plans
I may just sit around
Call me crazy but I hate bingo
Simple knitting, crocheting I can do
But I don’t like it why do you
I’d leave behind fallen stitch creations
Some painting viewed with fascination
What is it turn it upside down
On and on are ideas I found
But words are all I really like
Give me some paper a pen to write
When I create a mix of words
It pleases me I feel good
To tell of things that pass my eye
Like nature’s creatures plants and sky
Or family history of times gone by
So let me write both day and night
Or let me do nothing I have a right
