A head-on car wreck in Kasilof on Sunday evening killed two central peninsula residents, according to a dispatch from the Alaska State Troopers.
Hannah Hill, 29, of Kenai, was driving a 2018 Ford Focus “at a high rate of speed” and crossed over the centerline, according to troopers. The car collided head on with a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 42-year-old Kasilof resident Matthew Smith, the dispatch said.
Hill and her passenger Jessica Neff, 31, of Soldotna, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Both vehicles received “disabling damage,” the report states. Smith was taken to Central Peninsula Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The next of kin of both Hill and Neff have been notified, and the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
